Liu Xiaoben

About the founder

Xiaoben is the founder of Everlasting AI. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Philosophy from Nanjing University, and his research spans the philosophy of artificial intelligence, AI4Science, and Whole Brain Emulation (WBE). Working from a foundation in philosophy of language alongside existing technological approaches, he is developing a theoretical framework for mind uploading that brings these fields into conversation. His paper “The First Paradigm of Consciousness Uploading: Mechanisms of Consciousness Evolution in the AI Axial Age and a Prospect toward Web4” was one of the two Chinese-language winners of the 2025 Berggruen Prize Essay Competition. Alongside his research, Everlasting AI has been selected for the NVIDIA Inception program. He is also a co-founder of Nanckathon and the NJU Founders Club.

Through Everlasting AI, Xiaoben is working to turn the digital afterlife from a speculative concept into a platform for recording life stories, preserving family memories, and creating interactive digital twins and personal AI for remembrance. Building on his research, he has proposed a four-tier roadmap for mind uploading. It includes the .mind format, designed to encode a person’s voice, video, and written thoughts into a Human-Life Model (HLM), a framework that uses only an individual’s own data to capture their values, life story, and decision-making traits; and TTFD (Turing Test for Digital Life), a fidelity benchmark for quantitatively evaluating how closely digital entities replicate their human counterparts; alongside informed-consent and data-collection protocols intended to address ethical considerations.

During the Fellowship, Xiaoben will continue developing Everlasting AI’s platform, spanning cloud-, device-, and hub-based tools for building out a person’s life context, while exploring how this work might contribute to his vision of Web4: an “Internet of Consciousness” in which human and AI consciousness co-evolve as equal subjects.
