Xin Liu

Xin Liu is an artist and engineer based in London. As founding arts curator of the MIT Media Lab’s Space Exploration Initiative, she sent her own wisdom tooth to space on Blue Origin’s New Shepard (Living Distance, 2019) and flew artworks to the International Space Station.

She won the inaugural K11 Artist Prize in 2024. Her work has been commissioned by M+ and shown at Pioneer Works and Frieze London; in 2026 she opens her first solo show in Italy at Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo in Turin and joins the Uzbekistan Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. Her current research, which she calls cosmic metabolism, follows how matter is transformed and discarded across technological and planetary systems. She trained at Tsinghua University, RISD and MIT.
